Who This App Is For
StoryThread is designed exclusively for use by parents and legal guardians who are 18 years of age or older. Children are not users of this application and do not create accounts or directly interact with the platform. All content about children is uploaded and managed solely by the parent or guardian account holder.
What Information We Collect
Your email address and password (used for authentication), and any profile information you choose to provide.
Your child's name, date of birth, and profile photo — entered by you. We do not collect any information directly from children.
Photos, videos, and voice recordings you upload; milestone entries, captions, and notes you create; and dates and metadata associated with your uploads.
Device type and browser information, IP address and general location (country/region), and usage patterns and feature interactions (to improve the app).
If you connect Google Photos, we temporarily access your Google Photos library to import selected items. We do not store your Google credentials. Imported media is saved to your StoryThread account and is subject to this Privacy Policy.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve the app; store and display your uploaded content; authenticate your account and keep it secure; respond to your support requests; and send important account-related communications.
We do not sell your personal information or your children's information to third parties. We do not use uploaded photos or videos for advertising, model training, or any purpose other than displaying them back to you.
Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
• Children under the age of 13 do not create accounts or directly use this app • All information about children is provided by and controlled by the parent or guardian • We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children • Parents may review, update, or delete their child's profile and all associated content at any time by contacting us or using the in-app deletion features • If we learn we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child without verifiable parental consent, we will delete it promptly
How We Store and Protect Your Data
Your content is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud infrastructure provider. Key security measures include:
• All files are stored in private, access-controlled storage buckets • Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest • Access to your content requires authenticated session tokens • Each user can only access their own data
We regularly review our security practices and apply updates to protect against unauthorized access.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:
• Service Providers: With infrastructure providers (e.g., Supabase) strictly to operate the app • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights • Business Transfer: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your data would transfer to the new entity under the same privacy protections
Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
• Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you and your child • Correct: Update or correct inaccurate information at any time within the app • Delete: Delete any content, your child's profile, or your entire account at any time • Export: Request an export of your uploaded media and data

Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:
• Your account information is deleted immediately • Your uploaded content (photos, videos, etc.) is permanently deleted within 30 days • We do not retain backups of deleted accounts beyond 90 days
Third-Party Services
This app integrates with the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
• Supabase (database and storage): supabase.com/privacy • Google (optional Google Photos import): policies.google.com/privacy
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice within the app at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
